CCCSP 2014-2023 Dissemination Workshop Launched for the Southern Tonle Sap Region Provinces

Battambang – 29 April 2014, a dissemination workshop on the Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan (CCCSP) 2014-2023 was organized by the Climate Change Department (CCD) of the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA). The event was attended by over 80 representatives from five provinces, namely, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Pailin. The workshop aims to disseminate the recently approved Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan (2014-2023) of the Royal Government of Cambodia and to discuss potential follow-up steps needed to be undertaken to mainstream climate change into the planning process at the sub-national level.

Climate Change Awareness Raising to Upland Area in Cambodia

The Climate Change Department under financial support from Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) organized a 6th Sub-National workshop on climate change awareness raising in Rattanak Kiri province from 24-25 April 2014. The event was provided to 50 government officials from relevant provincial departments, deputy or district governors and local authorities of Rattanak Kiri and Stoeng Treng Province with an aim to raise their awareness on climate change issues, how to effectively respond to those challenges and dissemination Cambodia Climate Change Strategy Plan 2014-2023.

Joint Press Release: Signing of Low Carbon Growth Partnership between the Cambodian side and the Japanese side

On April 11, 2014, the signing ceremony of “Low Carbon Growth Partnership between the Cambodian side and the Japanese side” was held at Cambodiana Hotel between H.E. SAY Samal, Minister of Environment and H.E. Mr. KUMAMARU Yuji, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The global warming is a serious problem all the countries in the world are faced with and various measures have been introduced to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases as a cause to this problem.

Under Trust Fund Secretariate of Cambodia Climate Channge Alliance, two Practice Notes on Factors of Change and Stakeholder Participation are produced to draw attention of all those working on climate change context.

8th CCCA’s Programme Support Board Meeting

In the afternoon of 08 April 2014, the Ministry of Environment organized the CCCA’s Program Support Board (PSB) Meeting which was presided over by H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment and Chairperson of the CCCA PSB. The meeting was attended by PSB members from Ministry of Water Resource and Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and representatives from the development partners including European Union, Sweden Embassy and UNDP, with 32 participants in total. The main objectives of the meeting were to review the implementation of the CCCA programme phase 1 (2010-2014), and the progress in preparing CCCA proposal for phase 2 (2014-2019) for PSB’s review and approval.
