Over 150 young people receive training on climate change

IMG 6497 1Phnom Penh, 27 June 2016​- A training workshop on climate change for youths is organized under the presidency of H.E. Say Samal, the Minister of Environment as well as Chairperson of the National Council for the Sustainable Development (NCSD) with participation of over 150 youths who are from the Ministry of Environment, Union Youth Federations of Cambodia and relevant stakeholders. The training aims to improve as well as raise awareness of leaders, government officials, especially young students about climate change issues.

Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology start piloting climate change integration into their 2017 budgeting

PhnoIngetration CC into MOWRAM budget 17Jun2016m Penh, 16 June 2016: Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) agreed to pilot climate change integration into its budget plan for 2017 with the aim of strengthening climate proofing of infrastructure projects both national and sub national. An inception workshop for this initiative brought together 20 people including representatives of planning, budget and technical departments of MPWT, General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) and Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA).

New Release – Report on Climate Public Expenditure Review 2013-2014

Report on CPER 2013 2014 Cover pageThe Cambodia Climate Public Expenditure Review (CPER) report has been developed, with technical support from the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) and Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA), by the Climate Change Technical Team of Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

This review presented the evolution of public expenditure since 2009 and analyzes its alignment with Climate Change Action Plans (CCAPs) in key ministries is part of a broader effort by the MEF to support the Cambodian Climate Change Strategic Plan adopted by the RGC in 2013, and to ensure that climate change, as a cross-cutting priority in the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP) 2014-2018, is well reflected in public investments and activities on the ground. Training on Climate Responsive Budgeting to Finance and Planning Staff of Two-Sectoral Ministries and MEF

Traning on Responsive Budgeting9May2016PHNOM PENH, 09 May 2016: Following a basic level training on linking climate policy and public finance in November 2016, today, UNITAR in partnership with Economics and Finance Institute (EFI)/Ministry of Economics and Finance (MEF) and the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) is delivering an intermediate level training on “Climate-Responsive Budgeting” to advance the knowledge of how climate change can be integrated into the budget process and planning of sectoral ministries. 26 trainees from Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), EFI, MEF and the General Secretariat for Sustainable Development are engaged in the three-day training.

CC Response: Moving from Strategy to Implementation in 2015

The Annual Conference of the Ministry of Environment held last February provided an opportunity to take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the climate change response laid out in the Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan 2014-2023. The balance was clearly positive, highlighting a number of areas where the efforts of the Department of ClimateChange (DCC), working with ministriesand various stakeholders at the central and sub-national level, have delivered significant results in 2015.
