CoP18 Outcomes Dissemination Workshop

IMG 3525 rOn 8th February 2013, Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment under collaboration with Cambodia Climate Change Alliance and the NGO Forum organized a workshop to disseminate key outcomes of the 18th Conference of Parties of the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (CoP18), which was conducted in Doha last December. The dissemination workshop was participated by around 100 key stakeholders from government institutions, development partners, Civil Society Organizations and media.

UNFCCC- 18th Conference of the Parties

IMG 0867Cambodia has become a member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is an international environmental treaty, since 1996. The UNFCCC holds its Conference of the Parties (CoP) annually with an aim at stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. This year, CoP has reached the 18th session which is organized from 26 November to 7 December 2012 at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha, Qatar. 1st Draft of Sector Plans

The NCCC, with the support of the CCD/MOE and the Cambodian Climate Change Alliance Result 1 (Policy Framework and Formulation) has developed a first set of sector plans.

As a process, the sector plans are designed to be integrated into the upcoming national policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

This work is ongoing and we invite you to provide your comments on the drafts developed.

A strategic plan to cope with climate change

On the 26th of July, in Siem Reap, the Ministry of Environment (MoE) organized a consultation meeting to review the first drafts of sectoral climate change strategic plans developed by key line ministries. The outcomes of this consultation meeting contribute to align the drafts that will be compiled as one national strategic plan: the Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan (CCCSP).
